Great place to have a mooring as it's an easy walk to Stonington. They are also wonderful to deal with in working on your boat- great team of workers! Highly recommend for any boat work.
For the sailors, nice moorings and professional launch service crews. Short walk to shops and restaurants in addition to the on-site Dog Watch restaurant and Dog Scoop ice cream/snack bar.
After boating for more than 40 years and having owned many different boats, my wife and I have been to just about every boatyard from Florida to Maine. If your boat is of high quality and you can afford to pay for the best possible care and service, there is no finer boatyard on the east coast. The staff has the highest technical skills and the best work ethic we have ever seen. Management is exceptionally responsive and anticipates your every need. Dodson's Boatyard is a first class facility with extensive capabilities in a beautiful harbor. Go visit!
Place is unorganized and run by kids who know nothing about boating. We reserved our slip in April for a July trip. We were told we would have a slip. Got there and ended up rafted with another boat because, according to the teenager managing, Dodsons "has no slips for rent". False advertising... quite a way to ruin a vacation and a 6 hour sail. Place is not interested in having people return and we won't. They had over 12 boats from out yacht club ans everyone was incredibly disappointed... place stinks!
