St. Mary's is a lovely church. I sing in the choir every year during the Mass for Blessing of the Fleet, as was today, and also Maria Assunta, or Feast of the Assumption of Mary. Both Massed are usually Celebrated by Bishop Cote, and are followed by a parade. Today's was a walk down to the dock along w/ the Bishop flanked by local 4th degree Knights of Columbus and followed by a life like statue of St. Peter, Patron of Fishermen. Mass, Parade, Bishop Blessing the fleet of boats in the harbor and in the water and then tossing a wreath of flowers our to sea, all to honor local fishermen who have been lost at sea. Their names were sung during Prayers of the Faithful, at Mass. A wonderful tribute, indeed.
